Chapter order? Well, I wanted Nick & Alice’s to be in the middle because I figured some would view the other chapters as “interludes,” so I could put the “big stuff” there and people would still be able to pick up when the legacy resumed. Rosalie did go first because of Gil, yes. Shirley went next, because I knew Edward was going to die so I wanted to interject a little happy between some sad. And yes, Danny went last because his war ends last, and because he ended up as part of the occupying forces so he would be the last to come home.

I’m sure that Buzz Grunt would be glad to be in charge of the war department as well. :P

Well, I figured since Quinn was already “dead” it wouldn’t hurt to kill him again. Plus, I liked the idea of the juxtaposition of Zane as the chaplain. I actually talked to Ang about it, and she liked the idea.

Nick was never going to have an easy go with losing his first patient, no matter when it happened. But as a doctor, especially one in a war zone, it was inevitable. I think it will never be easy for him to lose a patient, but as you said, he’s made his peace with the fact that it will happen.

Yes, THAT scene. I wanted it to be wrenching, because Nick really did come thisclose to not coming home. I used the randomizer for the exact reason you said. War is random, and it doesn’t let you play favorites. Nick was very, very lucky.

I love the fashions of this era too. Hats totally need to make a comeback.

It was really rough for Taddy. He “seemed” more put together in Rosalie’s chapter because he was trying to hold it together for his family, and also because Rosalie often sees what she wants to, and if she didn’t want to see her father hurting…yeah. It definitely sucked for the Seiffs to lose Gilbert.

Steven will be about 3-4 years older than most of the other members of generation 8, yes. I’m still not 100% sure how all that will work out. But now that the men are home, there will be babies, babies, and MOAR babies, let me tell you.

Yup, time for Communism and the Cold War. I’m kind of looking forward to that in some ways. You know I’m going to have someone end up working for the SCIA, right?

The atomic bomb is another one of those subjects that is tough. As the argument went between Alice and James, yeah it ended the war but what was the ultimate cost? It’s another thing that there was no way to film, but you had to talk about because it was part of the war.

Of course Taddy and James made up. They’re BFFs and cousins, and they’ll quarrel but they’ll always make up in the end.

That was my favorite scene to write and film. I can only imagine what that was like for Nick and Alice. Of course Alice kept him up on his son by sending pictures and writing, but it’s not the same as being there. Nick is very much looking forward to being there for later kids, yes. Why do you think they got started on #2 so fast? :P

It is REALLY strange for me not to see Nick in a uniform of one form or another. But yes, you’ll just have to get used to it because no more military for anyone for a while.

MOAR NICK & ALICE BABIES. I can’t wait.

Thanks! I k new it was very long, but I really couldn’t have edited it down anymore. You don’t have to wait, as Dotty’s chapter’s all posted. And I’m glad that Nick lives too!!
