It's been a while, hasn't it?
What's been going on, you ask? Life. Since starting my new job (which I love and is awesome, btw), I've had to readjust to working full time and using the weekend to recharge. Counseling is demanding, and I'm pretty sapped by the end of the day. Needless to say, it's not left me much energy for creativity. I haven't abandoned the Sims entirely; I've got an uberhood that I'm messing around with for fun, as well as a Victorian RKC themed 'hood that I'll probably share the storyline from at some point. But I realized the other day that I missed the Bradfords. So, I pulled out the half-written next chapter that I've been poking at for the better part of a year (still can't believe it's been that long), and opened up Simsfield for the first time in what feels like forever.
I have a few pics to share behind the cut. They are presented without caption; infer from them what you will. I hope to have this long-in-progress chatper out soon. Steven is so close to going to college, and therefore meeting his wife and all that, which means generation 9 is *thisclose*. I want to finish telling this story that I started on long ago.
And now for that cut...

on 2015-05-04 02:58 am (UTC)It's nice to see you again. I'm glad you like your new job. If I remember right, it was a pretty drastic career jump wasn't it? It's definitely harder to sim when you need that time to recharge instead.

on 2015-05-04 01:24 pm (UTC)I'm so glad I decided to change careers. Yes, it is pretty drastic - I went from a non-profit where I worked to create and manage career education programs for high school aged students to working as a clinical mental health counselor for high school aged students. Same age group, but the populations are worlds apart. Still, even with the mental exhaustion, it's crazy rewarding work, and I really feel like I'm making a difference in the lives of these young people.

on 2015-05-04 03:37 am (UTC)Now as for life, it does seem to be kicking us all rather hard lately, even when things are going well, there never seems to be enough time.
Counseling is demanding from what I've heard, and you're not one to do it half-assed. If you ever need to talk, vent, etc, I'm still on AIM.

on 2015-05-04 01:26 pm (UTC)It stinks when real life gets in the way of hobbies, yes? I wish I could add a few more hours to the day, just to be able to do the fun stuff more.
Counseling is demanding, but rewarding. I will probably do an f-locked more in-depth post at some time, but for now, back to the grind.

on 2015-05-17 01:31 am (UTC)I totally understand the not wanting to play after working. I'm running into the same thing myself. That said, I miss my sims and the community and am glad to see people popping back who have been away for awhile. Looking forward to more Bradfords sometime in the future!

on 2015-05-30 11:27 pm (UTC)It's tough, wanting to play but not having the energy. I do miss my sims and the community (though the TS2 community isn't quite what it used to be). I do want to finish the story, and get all 10 generations documented. After all, I already wrote 80% of the epilogue. Hopefully it all comes together soon.
